Board of Education
The Gwinnett County Board of Education, serves as the governing body of GCPS. Board members are elected on a staggered basis, serving four-year terms. The Board consists of five members, each of whom represent a different geographic district.

School Board meetings typically are held on the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. The School Board meets at the school system’s J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, located at 437 Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee. All meetings, except executive sessions, are open to the public and the news media. The Gwinnett County Board of Education and Superintendent serve as the governance team for the school district. As such, they set the direction for the district.
