Ken Yant, Gwinnett County Public Schools’ director of School Nutrition, is a 2018 Silver Plate Winner. Presented by the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA), the IFMA Gold & Silver Plate Awards honor the nation’s top foodservice operator talent.
Yant says winning the award is inspiring. He adds, “It is both humbling and an honor to receive this award on behalf of our program. The list of previous winners includes many people I know and respect in school nutrition, so to be included in such prestigious company is an exceptional honor and a major highlight of my career.”
Silver Plate winners are nominated by IFMA members and industry leaders, then selected by a distinguished jury including national trade press, foodservice experts and past Gold & Silver Plate award winners. From the Silver Plate winners, one is chosen by the jury to receive the industry’s most prestigious recognition, IFMA’s 2018 Gold Plate Award, revealed for the first time at the Gold & Silver Plate Award Celebration.
“This award is recognition for our program as a whole, for our School Nutrition Program staff and their efforts day in and day out to provide healthy and nutritious meals to our students, and for our district’s commitment to the children of Gwinnett County. It takes a whole team approach and effort and this recognition from other industry professionals is affirmation of a job well done,” Yant said.
