All GCPS high schools make AP Honors list

February 12, 2019

The Georgia Department of Education has released the list of AP Honors Schools and 21 Gwinnett County public high schools made one or more of the lists. In terms of AP Honor Schools, several Gwinnett County public schools were recognized in more than one category. Archer High, Dacula High, Duluth High, Grayson High, Lanier High and Mountain View High, made the list in five of the six categories.

“We are proud that all 21 high schools were recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for honors in AP enrollment and achievement,” said Dr. Jonathan Patterson, associate superintendent for curriculum and instructional support. “The work our schools have done to provide access to a wide-range of AP courses and the success our students have in AP courses is something in which our district can take great pride. The rigor and high expectations associated with AP courses and AP exams provides students with the experiences that will help them be successful in their postsecondary endeavors.”

AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit. The 2019 AP Honor Schools are named in six categories, based on the results of 2018 AP courses and exams.
