All Gwinnett high schools make AP Honor Schools list

March 2, 2017

The Georgia Department of Education has released the list of AP Honor Schools and 21 Gwinnett County public high schools made one or more of the lists. In terms of AP Honor Schools, several GCPS schools were recognized in more than one category. Archer High, Grayson High, and Norcross High, made the list in five of the six categories.

“We are very happy and proud that all 21 of our high schools were recognized by the Georgia Department of Education,” said Jonathan Patterson, associate superintendent for curriculum and instructional support. “Our schools are committed to rigor and it is that commitment, as well as hard work, that helped land our schools on the AP Honor Schools list. We are proud that students who attend our schools will be prepared for college and beyond.”

AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit. The 2017 AP Honor Schools are named in six categories, based on the results of 2016 AP courses and exams.

The 21 GCPS schools recognized as 2017 AP Honor Schools are listed below. In addition to the honors earned by these schools, Gwinnett County Public Schools has been recognized by the College Board as its 2017 AP District of the Year for large school districts.
