On Saturday, October 26, Baggett Elementary School and Lilburn Elementary School will team up with Lowes and Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) to build more than 100 beds for local families and hurricane victims. SHP is a non-profit organization that specializes in building beds for families in need. Its goal is to get children off floors and give them a good night’s sleep.
Recently, SHP recently delivered four beds to a Baggett Elementary family. With this in mind, Principal Charlotte Sadler and her team felt this would be a great project for their school. She explains, “Seeing as Great Days of Service is coming up, we thought this would be a great opportunity for our staff to give back to our community through a project close to home… one that recently benefitted a family in our school community.”
In addition to providing lunch, water, and volunteers for the project, Lowes also will donate $25,000. In addition to volunteering for the build, the two elementary schools also are raising money to buy bedding and pillows for the new beds.
