Mountain View High School and Dacula High School may be scheduled to play each other in football this Friday night, but the competition between the two rivals is already heating up.
From Tuesday, September 3, through Thursday, September 5, the two schools will take part in the fourth annual Friday Night Food Fight. Started by Dacula High in 2016, the Friday Night Food Fight is a competition to see which school can collect the most canned goods and toiletries for those in need. The winner will be announced at halftime of the football game between the two schools on Friday, September 6, at Dacula High.
Items collected by Dacula High students will go to the school’s Falcon Food Nest pantry and the Lawrenceville Co-Operative Ministry. Donations collected by Mountain View High will go to the Pantry at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church. This is the second year in a row Dacula High has taken on Mountain View High in the competition. Last year Dacula High students collected donations totaling more than 8,100 pounds. Mountain View High students collected more than 7,000 pounds. The first two years of the competition, Dacula High competed against Mill Creek High School.
