Gwinnett schools honored for healthy school environment

January 30, 2018

The state of Georgia has recognized three dozen Gwinnett County public schools for their dedication to creating a healthy school environment and a culture of wellness for staff, students, and community. The 2017 Governor’s Shape Honor Roll features 36 elementary, middle, and high schools from Gwinnett County, making Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) the most decorated school district in the state.

Georgia's K-12 public schools were invited to submit an application to be recognized by the Governor’s Office, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Georgia Department of Public Health for their exceptional participation in the annual fitness assessment data collection process, as well as their commitment to efforts that improve student wellness. Schools were recognized in four categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Eight schools in GCPS received the Platinum Award while four schools received the Gold Award.
