Gwinnett County Public Schools’ (GCPS) Community-Based Mentoring Program will host its 6th Annual Career Summit at Discovery High School on Saturday, March 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will feature seminars that focus on careers in law, information technology, social media, sports management, and Junior Achievement’s Finance Park. The sessions will be hosted by professionals with experience in the highlighted fields. Each career seminar will be held four times, allowing students to attend all of them.
“We are really excited about the career summit,” said GCPS Director of Academic Support James Rayford. “This is our sixth year hosting the event and we believe it will be the best one yet. We are giving students the opportunity to learn a lot about the careers they are interested in and what it takes to be successful in their preferred career. Our goal is to expose students to careers that will encourage them to grow into productive citizens.”
Following the career seminars and lunch, there will be a Community Fair featuring information about various colleges, universities, and businesses. GCPS counselors also will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about navigating high school and successfully applying to college. Discovery High School is located at 1330 Old Norcross Rd., in Lawrenceville.
