Walton EMC awards more than $100K to Gwinnett schools

     Educators at two dozen Gwinnett County public schools were awarded grants by a local energy company totaling $125,053.99. The Walton EMC EmPOWERment Grants focus on projects to strengthen the schools’ instructional programs and enhance student success. Representatives from Walton EMC visited 22 Gwinnett schools to deliver the exciting news to nearly 30 teachers and their students. Below is a list of the grant winners, the names of their projects, and the amount they will receive.

     This grant program is made possible by a Georgia law that allows EMCs to use unclaimed refunds for community development after all attempts to find the owners are exhausted. No money from electric bills are used to provide these grants.
