Gwinnett students win gifted education awards

April 24, 2018

The Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education (GAGE) recently recognized its 2018 award and scholarship winners at the organization’s 37th Annual Awards Ceremony. In addition to naming the GAGE Gifted Students of the Year, the organization presented six $100 scholarships. Two students earned $500 scholarships— the Ruth Cowan and Annette Eger scholarships, named after premiere gifted educators who worked in Gwinnett. Melissa Madsen, principal of Britt Elementary School, was honored as the organization’s Administrator of the Year and Mona Brawley, an educator at Partee Elementary School, is the GAGE Elementary Teacher of the Year. In addition, GAGE recognized Monchello Curry as its Outstanding Parent of the Year and Dr. Hector Rosario as its Hughes Award winner, which salutes an individual, club, business, corporation, or civic group who made an outstanding contribution to GCPS’ gifted program.
