Gwinnett County elementary schools to be honored for fundraising efforts in support of healthy heart habits

     Friday, September 22, The American Heart Association will honor 10 Gwinnett County public schools for their fundraising prowess. Berkeley Lake Elementary, Duncan Creek Elementary, Freeman’s Mill Elementary, Fort Daniel Elementary, Jenkins Elementary, Mulberry Elementary, Roberts Elementary, Rock Springs Elementary, Simpson Elementary and Suwanee Elementary, are the top fundraisers in the Jump Rope for Heart campaign. Jump Rope for Heart is a community service, educational program that teaches children heart health habits that they can implement today and make a part of their daily routines for life. The 10 schools are among 48 Gwinnett County elementary schools that partner with The American Heart Association. The program also provides, P.E. Equipment to the schools, e-learning lesson plans for K-5, heart healthy games, heart facts, parent newsletters and healthy recipes. 

     Representatives from the American Red Cross will honor the top fundraising schools during ceremonies at their respective schools on September 22. The start times are as follows:

 

  • 8:05 a.m. - Jenkins Elementary
  • 8:45 a.m. -  Freeman’s Mill Elementary
  • 9:15 a.m. - Fort Daniel Elementary
  • 9:50 a.m. -  Mulberry Elementary 
  • 10:25 a.m. - Duncan Creek Elementary
  • 11:05 a.m. -  Rock Springs Elementary
  • 11:35 a.m. - Suwanee Elementary (#1 School)
  • 12:00 p.m. - Roberts Elementary
  • 1:30 p.m. - Simpson Elementary
  • 2:05 p.m. - Berkeley Lake Elementary
