Rock Springs students and teachers stand with canned food donations to co-op
Students and teachers at Rock Springs Elementary School surprised Principal Penny Clavijo with a schoolwide collection of canned food donations in honor of her birthday. All donations benefited the Lawrenceville Co-op, where Ms. Clavijo regularly volunteers.
"On behalf of the faculty and staff, parents and community partners, and most importantly, our 875 GSMST alumni, we are honored to receive this important designation as a National Blue Ribbon School. We are so excited to represent the quality public education that is available throughout Gwinnett County Public Schools."

The program is one of 15 finalists for a $100,000 grant in the Farmers Insurance Dream Big Teacher Challenge. Six Dream Big winners will be named in December, earning $100,000 each. Right now, i-BLAZE is in 7th place so we need your help! Please share this opportunity with friends and family so we can help our schools fund this initiative. Check out the proposal by Dr. Sharon Smith and cast your vote every day through Oct. 31. (Each time, you'll be asked to verify your vote via an email link. If you don't, it doesn't count, so please take this extra step.)

    Promise of Gwinnett logo
Across the school district, the 2016-17 school year has been designated as a "Year of Promise." The Promise of Gwinnett campaign is a means of focusing attention on the importance of public education, the role it plays in our nation, and the outstanding schools found right here in Gwinnett County. We hope you've gotten a chance to meet some of our Promise Students and Promise Teachers (TOTY semifinalists) through the Promise of Gwinnett website, and been inspired by the Promise videos posted on the site. Be on the lookout for more Promise staff photos in November. As part of our American Education Week celebration, we will feature photographs of teachers, administrators, and support staff from around the county and across divisions.
