FAQ

The District Assessments program provides formative, interim, and summative assessments that are designed to inform instruction. These assessments measure what the student has learned during a specified period of instruction. The questions on each test are aligned to the Academic Knowledge and Skills standards for each content area.
By assessing students' knowledge of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS), teachers are able to analyze data for instructional planning and adjust instruction based on student needs. This feedback allows teachers to adjust teaching and learning to improve students' achievement of desired instructional objectives.

The Office of Assessment provides a window of time when District Assessments may be administered to students. Each local school decides when students will take the District Assessments during that administration window.
District Assessments may be administered either electronically/online or as a pencil/paper assessment. Many schools utilize both of these formats based on the availability of technology.
The AKS and District Assessments are fully aligned with the GPS Common Core standards that have been adopted by the state of Georgia. These standards represent a change in the way students need to think in order to become college and career ready.
