More than a half dozen Gwinnett County public schools have been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) for their Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs. PBIS guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based behavioral practices for improving behavior outcomes for all students. It encourages positive behaviors with recognition for those students who exhibited appropriate school conduct. The following schools were recognized by the state as “Distinguished” for their implementation of PBIS.

  • Brookwood Elementary

  • Lawrenceville Elementary

Each year, the GaDOE recognizes schools and programs that have created and maintained a positive school climate through the implementation of PBIS. PBIS supports schools, districts, and states to build systems capacity for implementing a multi-tiered approach to social, emotional, and behavior support. PBIS provides an operational framework for achieving these outcomes. More than 1,200 Georgia schools and 27,000 nationwide have been trained in PBIS.
