Level Creek Elementary student wins county book contest

     Maggie Robinson, a 5th grader at Level Creek Elementary School, is the 2017 Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Book Contest winner. Robinson’s book, You Have Promise, will be published and she will receive a $500 award. You Have Promise is about a baby bear who dreams about being in a different profession after his mom tells him he can be successful because he has “promise.”

     Loan Hoang and Megan Coffey, 5th graders at Puckett’s Mill Elementary School, placed second in this year’s competition for their book Eden’s Promise, earning $250. Julie Cao and Katherine Pham, 8th grade students at Northbrook Middle School, earned $100 for their third-place finish with their book Don’t Be Shy

     The following students earned Honorable Mention Honors:

  • Angele Houy, 11th grade, Duluth HS - Luna Around the World
  • Jenna Shirley, 7th grade, Dacula MSCallie’s Big Adventure
  • Alexis Eichenberger, 3rd grade, Puckett’s Mill ES -The Lost Pencil
  • Bre Burton, 4th grade, Suwanee ES - Alexander Is The Promise
  • Alfredo Martinez, 7th grade, Radloff MS - The Promise of Gwinnett

     The contest, which used the theme “The Promise of Gwinnett” was open to all GCPS students in grades Pre-K through 12. Submissions from individual students and groups were accepted. The prizes for this contest are provided by the GCPS Foundation as part of its support of Gwinnett students.
