The Gwinnett Heat, Gwinnett County Public Schools’ 1st place wheelchair handball team, will compete in the 2017 American Association of Adapted Sports Programs (AAASP)/Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Wheelchair Handball state championship tournament on Saturday, November 4, at the J. P. Moseley Recreation Center (1041 Millers Mill Rd, Stockbridge, GA 30281). The top-seeded Gwinnett Heat is scheduled to take on the number four seed, the Clayton Eagles, at noon.
The tournament is the culmination of the 21st annual wheelchair handball season in Georgia. Teams from school districts across the state competed last weekend for seeding in the tournament this weekend. The regular season standings are as follows:
1st place --- Gwinnett Heat
2nd place --- Houston County Sharks
3rd place --- West Georgia Wolverines
4th place --- Clayton Eagles
Students representing more than 40 varying physical disability groups and ranging in grades from 1 to 12 (though most are middle and high school students) will compete.
