Gwinnett names TOTY semifinalists

2017-18 Teacher of the Year: Gwinnett selects semifinalists for district's top honor

     A committee from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) recently narrowed down the list of Gwinnett’s top educators on the road to being named the 2017-18 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year. The committee announced the names of the 25 semifinalists to be considered for the system’s top honor. The group of 15 elementary, five middle, and five high school teachers was selected from the initial list of 138 local school Teachers of the Year who were nominated by their colleagues at their local schools. The 2017-18 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year will be announced in November at the annual Teacher of the Year banquet. 

     This year’s Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year semifinalists are:

  • Dr. Maxine T. Amritt of Simonton ES5th Grade Teacher 
  • Paige Brandon of Level Creek ESSpecial Education Teacher – Autism Spectrum Disorder (Grades K-1)
  • Jenny Chambless of Chattahoochee ESMusic Teacher (Grades K-5)
  • John Chvatal of Brookwood HSAP and Gifted Biology Teacher (Grades 9-12)
  • Amy Crisp of Norcross HSEnglish to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher – Language Arts (Grades 9-12)
  • Dr. Doug Doblar of Head ESMathematics and Science Teacher (Grades 4 and 5)
  • Anthony Dramis of Hull MSMathematics Teacher (Grade 8)
  • Ebony Flott of Camp Creek ES4th Grade Teacher
